Photography Sales and Training Specialist

This is the perfect opportunity to blend your photography/video expertise and your ability to transfer enthusiasm to specialty retailers and professional photographers while showcasing some of the finest photography and videography equipment available.  Our Sony team currently has an opportunity available for a Photo Sales and Training Specialist. This position will execute retail strategies and action plans with assigned photo specialty retail stores to fully leverage the Sony Brand.  The role is responsible for selecting, training, developing and educating retail sales specialists on the feature benefits of Sony products.  Strong selling techniques and building strong relationships are pivotal in this role.  This role will also merchandise retail locations with visual displays and in store promotional material as needed.   

THE DETAILS

  • Engage consumers by explaining the benefits and advantages of Sony products
  • Develop and facilitate informal and formal training for store associates
  • Conduct factory demonstrations at photo retailers during key selling periods
  • Conduct consumer educational classes focusing on the benefits of Sony products
  • Participate in key consumer shows, i.e., Photo Plus, CES, PMA as directed by Sony
  • Work in conjunction with Sony sell-in and sellout staff
  • Sales Management – Utilize relationships built with store management and associates to increase sales. This would include ensuring that Sony products are displayed and functional to the maximum on the store floor, use of creative initiatives with store approval, etc.
  • Data Capture – Collect and report visit data as well as competitive data in electronic call reports.
  • In-Store Management – Coordinate all aspects of Sony in-store presence. This involves training, assisted-selling and special event schedule planning.
  • Responsible for store merchandising to Sony standards

ARE YOU A MATCH?

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.  In lieu of degree, must have 4-6 years retail experience

Experience Required

  • Photo Specialty Retail experience preferred
  • Thorough understanding of consumer electronics, digital imaging and visual merchandising in a retail sales environment
  • Must have the ability to educate and communicate digital imaging and imaging knowledge
  • Must have previous experience leading or overseeing other employees with demonstrated ability in coaching and developing retail sales associates
  • Must have excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent communications skills required in order to build strong, collaborative relationships
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Must have the ability to motivate, influence and promote Sony products to the consumers at the retail level
  • Must have an understanding of upstream and downstream impacts and actions on the business, vendors, retailers and photographers.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong knowledge of videography and photography required
  • Passion for digital imaging and solid understanding of photographic and video techniques and software
  • Strong negotiation skills needed
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Daily travel to retailers in assigned zone is required - company vehicle provided
  • Must reside in a centrally-located area within the assigned territory
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to Travel 40% of the time away from home market
  • This position can require climbing a ladder and the individual should have the ability to lift 50 pounds with/without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to work retail hours including weekends
